Outfitted as Coast Guard Auxilliary craft, these pleasure cruisers were tasked with such tasks as spotting enemy U-boats, and rescuing crews of ships sunk in the Battle of the Atlantic. The plot of the film revolves around the life of seamen on board the second USS Yorktown (CV-10) - "the Fighting Lady".
